Mastering the Three Facial Movements
Most facial care is applied with unnecessary friction. By standardizing the direction and pressure of your manual application, you increase the efficiency of your products and avoid stretching the skin. This three-movement protocol is designed to be performed during your evening or morning cleanse or oil application.
The movements rely on steady, upward pressure to counteract gravity. The objective is consistency rather than intensity.
- Prepare the surface. Dispense your cleansing oil or facial serum onto your palms. Rub your hands together to warm the product evenly. Apply the product to the face using light, flat-palmed strokes, beginning at the center of the face and moving outward.
- The Jawline Sweep. Place your index and middle fingers in a V-shape at the chin. Slide your fingers upward and outward along the jawline toward the base of the ears. Maintain firm, consistent pressure throughout the entire length of the stroke.
- The Cheekbone Lift. Place your knuckles or flat palms just below the apple of the cheeks near the nose. Glide your hands diagonally upward toward the temples, following the natural contour of the bone. Repeat this movement three times to ensure even coverage.
- The Forehead Smooth. Place your fingertips at the center of the forehead just above the brows. Move your hands horizontally toward the hairline. Use the entire width of your fingers to flatten the skin rather than pressing deep into the muscle.
Technique is more important than product density when it comes to manual facial maintenance.
