Optimizing Your Vitamin C Application
Vitamin C is an unstable antioxidant that oxidizes quickly when exposed to light, heat, or air. Its efficacy in a morning routine depends entirely on the sequence of application and the ambient temperature of your environment. Following a precise technical approach prevents premature degradation and ensures the formula penetrates the epidermis as intended.
Correct application relies on the transition from cleansed skin to a stabilized environment. Do not rush the drying process, as layering products too quickly disrupts the film-forming polymers in most serum bases.
- Prepare the surface. Cleanse your face with a pH-balanced cleanser to remove sebum from the overnight period. Pat your skin dry with a clean cotton towel. Excess moisture dilutes the serum and alters its intended pH level, which is critical for product performance.
- Dispense and warm. Dispense three to four drops onto your fingertips rather than directly onto the face. Rub your fingertips together for five seconds to warm the product slightly. This adjustment improves the viscosity and assists in even distribution across the cheeks, forehead, and chin.
- Press, do not rub. Press the serum into the skin using a flat-handed patting motion. Avoid aggressive rubbing, as this creates friction and may displace the product unevenly. Ensure complete coverage, focusing on high points of the face where light hits first.
- Wait for complete absorption. Allow exactly ninety seconds for the serum to fully dry before applying subsequent layers. If the texture feels sticky or tacky after this window, you have likely dispensed too much product. Do not proceed to moisturizer until the surface feels completely matte and dry.
Patience between layers is the primary factor in serum efficacy.
