The SPF Hybrid Guide

Modern formulation technology allows for the integration of ultraviolet filters into standard moisturising bases. This eliminates the need for layering separate products, which often leads to pilling or excessive product buildup on the skin surface. Efficiency in the morning depends on how well these formulas adhere to the skin without interfering with makeup or general comfort.

Using a hybrid SPF-moisturiser requires consistency in application volume, as the protective factor depends entirely on the amount applied to the face. You must treat this product as a sunscreen first and a lotion second to achieve the intended effect.

  1. Prepare the surface. Cleanse your face with a mild soap to remove any sweat or remnants of evening treatments. Pat the skin dry with a clean cotton towel. Do not leave the skin damp, as this may affect the uniform spread of the SPF filter.
  2. Dispense the correct amount. Pump the product into your palm. You require approximately a quarter-sized amount to cover the face and ears adequately. If you use less, the level of protection will be insufficient.
  3. Apply with uniform strokes. Dot the product across the forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. Using flat palms, press and smooth the product in outward motions. Ensure the ears and the hairline receive an even coating.
  4. Allow for fixation. Wait one full minute before applying any foundation or concealer. This allows the film-forming agents to set, which prevents the SPF from migrating or balling up under makeup. Avoid touching your face during this period.
Consistency in application volume is the only variable that defines the success of a hybrid product.
