How to layer rosehip oil over hyaluronic serum.

The conventional wisdom tells oily skin types to avoid facial oils entirely. This misses the point. The issue isn't oil itself, but when and how you apply it. Layer rosehip oil incorrectly over hyaluronic acid serum and you create a barrier that traps bacteria while preventing moisture absorption.

The technique below solves this by controlling timing and water content. You'll lock in hydration without the weight or congestion that typically follows oil application on oily skin.

 1. Cleanse with lukewarm water only.. Skip your evening cleanser tonight. Rinse face with lukewarm water, using your hands to remove surface oils and debris. Pat dry with a clean towel, leaving skin slightly damp. The residual moisture creates the right environment for hyaluronic acid absorption without diluting the serum too much.
 2. Apply hyaluronic serum to damp skin.. Dispense three drops of hyaluronic acid serum onto your fingertips. Press gently into damp skin, starting at the centre of your face and working outward. Don't rub or massage—the serum should absorb within twenty seconds. If it sits on the surface, your skin was too wet. Blot with a tissue and wait thirty seconds before continuing.
 3. Wait for complete absorption.. Touch your cheek lightly with the back of your hand. The skin should feel smooth and slightly tacky, not slippery or wet. This indicates the serum has penetrated without leaving a barrier layer. If your skin still feels slippery, wait another ten seconds and test again.
 4. Warm rosehip oil between palms.. Place two drops of rosehip oil in your palm. Rub hands together for five seconds to warm the oil to body temperature. This reduces viscosity and improves spreadability. The oil should feel thin and warm, not thick or cold, when you apply it.
 5. Press oil into skin, don't rub.. Press your palms gently against your face, starting at the centre and moving outward. Hold for two seconds in each position. Avoid rubbing or massaging motions, which can disrupt the serum layer underneath. The oil should absorb completely within five minutes, leaving skin soft but not shiny.
The issue isn't oil itself, but when and how you apply it.
