How to Keep Your Tan Even as It Fades
Exfoliate gently, moisturize daily, and use gradual tanning products to prevent patchy fading.
A good tan is like good tailoring - the maintenance is what makes it look expensive, not the initial application.
- Exfoliate before it gets patchy. Use a gentle scrub on rough areas like elbows, knees, and ankles every 2-3 days. This prevents buildup where tan naturally clings and creates those obvious fade lines.
- Moisturize immediately after every shower. Apply body lotion on damp skin to lock in moisture and slow the natural shedding process. Hydrated skin holds color longer and fades more evenly.
- Top up with gradual tanning lotion. Mix a small amount of gradual tanning product with your regular moisturizer every few days. This extends your tan without creating obvious application lines or sudden color changes.
- Focus on high-wear areas. Pay extra attention to areas that fade fastest - hands, feet, face, and anywhere clothing rubs. These spots need more frequent moisturizing and gentle maintenance.
