How to Apply Body Oil After Your Shower
Apply body oil to damp skin within three minutes of showering to lock in moisture and create a protective barrier.
Body oil isn't complicated luxury skincare—it's just replacing what hot water strips away, but most people overthink the timing and underdose the application.
- Pat, don't rub. Step out and gently pat your skin with a towel, leaving it slightly damp. Water on your skin helps the oil spread evenly and absorb better.
- Work in sections. Start with your legs and work upward, using 3-4 drops per limb. Warm the oil between your palms before applying in long, smooth strokes following your skin's natural lines.
- Layer strategically. Focus on naturally dry areas like elbows, knees, and shins first, then move to areas that produce more natural oils. Your torso needs less product than your extremities.
- Wait before dressing. Give the oil 2-3 minutes to absorb before putting on clothes. This prevents transfer and ensures the product actually benefits your skin instead of your outfit.
