How to Apply Body Oil After Your Shower

Apply body oil to damp skin within three minutes of showering to lock in moisture and create a protective barrier.

Body oil isn't complicated luxury skincare—it's just replacing what hot water strips away, but most people overthink the timing and underdose the application.

  1. Pat, don't rub. Step out and gently pat your skin with a towel, leaving it slightly damp. Water on your skin helps the oil spread evenly and absorb better.
  2. Work in sections. Start with your legs and work upward, using 3-4 drops per limb. Warm the oil between your palms before applying in long, smooth strokes following your skin's natural lines.
  3. Layer strategically. Focus on naturally dry areas like elbows, knees, and shins first, then move to areas that produce more natural oils. Your torso needs less product than your extremities.
  4. Wait before dressing. Give the oil 2-3 minutes to absorb before putting on clothes. This prevents transfer and ensures the product actually benefits your skin instead of your outfit.
