How to Apply Body Butter for Maximum Impact

Apply body butter to slightly damp skin immediately after showering for better absorption and longer-lasting moisture.

Most people treat body butter like lotion and wonder why it feels heavy—it's meant to be used strategically, not slathered everywhere daily.

  1. Time it right. Use body butter within three minutes of stepping out of the shower while your skin is still slightly damp. The water creates a barrier that locks in moisture and helps the butter spread more easily.
  2. Start with less. Warm a small amount between your palms before applying. Body butter is concentrated—you need much less than regular lotion to cover the same area effectively.
  3. Work in sections. Apply in upward circular motions, starting from your feet and working up. Focus extra attention on naturally dry areas like elbows, knees, and heels where skin tends to be thicker.
  4. Let it absorb. Wait two to three minutes before getting dressed. Body butter needs time to penetrate properly, and rushing into clothes creates that greasy film everyone complains about.
