How to Smooth Strawberry Legs

Strawberry legs happen when hair follicles get clogged with oil and dead skin—gentle exfoliation and proper shaving technique will clear them.

Strawberry legs are just clogged pores—treat them like you would your face and the drama disappears.

  1. Exfoliate before shaving. Use a body scrub or dry brush on your legs 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells. This prevents hair follicles from getting clogged and creates a smoother surface for your razor.
  2. Shave with the grain. Always shave in the direction your hair grows, not against it. Use a sharp razor with multiple blades and plenty of shaving cream or oil to reduce irritation and ingrown hairs.
  3. Moisturize immediately. Apply a body lotion with ingredients like glycolic acid or salicylic acid while your skin is still damp. These gentle acids help keep pores clear and prevent future buildup.
  4. Use chemical exfoliation. Apply a body lotion or serum with AHA or BHA acids 2-3 times a week on non-shaving days. This keeps hair follicles clear and reduces the dark spots that create the strawberry effect.
