How to Clear Body Acne
Body acne clears with gentle exfoliation, salicylic acid products, and sweat management.
Body acne is usually about sweat and fabric, not your skincare routine being wrong.
- Switch your shower routine. Use lukewarm water and a gentle, fragrance-free body wash. Hot water strips your skin and triggers more oil production. Shower immediately after sweating to prevent bacteria buildup in your pores.
- Add salicylic acid. Apply a 2% salicylic acid body wash or lotion to affected areas three times per week. This ingredient dissolves the buildup in your pores without overdrying. Start slowly to avoid irritation.
- Exfoliate weekly. Use a gentle body scrub or exfoliating gloves once a week to remove dead skin cells. Focus on your back, chest, and shoulders where breakouts cluster. Avoid scrubbing inflamed areas.
- Choose breathable fabrics. Wear loose cotton clothing, especially during workouts. Synthetic fabrics trap sweat and bacteria against your skin. Change out of sweaty clothes immediately after exercising.
- Moisturize with purpose. Apply a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to prevent your skin from overproducing oil. Look for ingredients like ceramides or hyaluronic acid that hydrate without clogging pores.
